a7esk Posted February 6, 2013 Author Posted February 6, 2013 Question could a wheel bearing cause a faulty reading on the ABS system?
a7esk Posted February 8, 2013 Author Posted February 8, 2013 Could it be a wheel sensor? Yes that what I was hoping but if not its almost a £1000 to fix i did make contacted with Lotus that was a laugh don't care . Today Checked all 4 corners for faulty wires all ok even checked fuses . Eddie
jimbo07g41 Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 I have heard of wheel sensors playing up when they get damp in them. Try resetting the ECU, can you disconnect the battery for twenty minutes on the R to do this? Sounds strange that they diagnosis the most expensive part on the system first.
darryl Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 We had ABS light come on last year, dealer disconnected (I think LHF) wheel sensor sprayed plug/socket with WD40 and ABS light has only stayed on twice since for about 15min's of driving each time
a7esk Posted February 12, 2013 Author Posted February 12, 2013 Fingers crossed should find out what the cause is on Friday .
a7esk Posted February 15, 2013 Author Posted February 15, 2013 Confirmed ABS unit failed needs replacing Best place to buy one . Both Lotus dealers confirmed it Dam .
Martin R Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Confirmed ABS unit failed needs replacing Best place to buy one . Both Lotus dealers confirmed it Dam . Give Junks a call / U2U to start with? He may have a few ideas for a good second hand unit?
a7esk Posted February 16, 2013 Author Posted February 16, 2013 Yes that's a good idea any local ones around
MrSimba Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Is the current one a 2 channel or 4? Definatly not worth putting a 2 channel unit back in whilst it's all apart,
a7esk Posted February 17, 2013 Author Posted February 17, 2013 Yes goes to all 4 and manage to buy one today so next weekend work begins . This unit does not normally fail was the first for a lotus dealer to see it happen to, And lotus Engineer has only seen this once so they replaced the complete unit to fix fault as well .
a7esk Posted February 22, 2013 Author Posted February 22, 2013 Almost started but bleeding brakes with ABS unit calls for Lotus bit of kit to make the ABS work to get the air out off the system or can it be done with out this .
MrSimba Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Bleed brakes then take the car out for a blast activating the ABS a few times & then re-bleed system again, this usually does the trick
