Ian C Posted February 7, 2013 Author Posted February 7, 2013 Cheers stockhome, and what about a place to get it done?
DeanB Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Ian mine is going in to Unit4 at Burton tomorrow for braided hoses and a service. Gav (the proprietor) says he can fit the hoses without taking the clam off, although it's a frig. You could give him a call. Hes a specialist, and well regarded on here. I always order my parts with Unit4 as the delivery address. Dean
Ian C Posted February 7, 2013 Author Posted February 7, 2013 Thanks guys, all useful info. Looks like it's time to splash some cash, this is getting expensive!

Ian C Posted February 7, 2013 Author Posted February 7, 2013 Has anyone used Mike at Sports Car services? It's literally 5 miles from here, so is closer than Unit 4.
jonnyfox Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Yea Mikes alright, he knows his stuff. Not much between the two I would have thought, lucky both are so local. Edit lol I really have to insist 4 pots are where it's at, why should Lotus upgrade all there Cup cars in this way if it wasn't the way to go. 4 pots, SRF, braided hoses, 308 AP discs, whatever pads (depends on usage) front and back......EPIC! The best bit of any car IMO, well second to a good set of Ohlins I guess.
PaulJ Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Mike serviced my Europa last Saturday. Seemed very thorough and decent price. As Jonny said he knows his stuff
Numbnutz Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 You can fit braided hoses without taking the front clam off. Its not easy tho, quite fiddly. A few people reckon there is not much difference with braided hoses, unless you do a lot of track time. Depending on the cost inc fitting etc, consider spending this elsewhere in the upgrade. Or do it when you have a new radiator fitted. Consider bigger discs. 288 are standard. so consider a move to 295's (with caliper spacers) or bigger again. Going bigger on the back is not as easy.

Martin R Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Mike and Wendy are lovely people. Mike also knows his Lotus as well

Jonny I dont think anyone disagrees with you on the four pot issue, if money is no object.....if it is though, doing without may do a good enough job, if not as good a job....
Ian C Posted February 26, 2013 Author Posted February 26, 2013 Car is now in with Mike at Sports Car Services having some bits put on. Pagid RS42, braided hoses, SRF fluid and an alloy rad fitted. I'll then see how the brakes are at Silverstone on 17th March before spending any more cash. I suspect I'll just use up the discs that are on and then switch to ally belled discs. The car was awesome at Donny last week, although I didn't push the brakes that hard.
scatty Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Where did you buy the braided hoses and alloy rad from.
DeanB Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Scatty I got my hoses from Eliseparts if that helps. Sixty bills if memory serves.
Ian C Posted February 27, 2013 Author Posted February 27, 2013 Yeah got my rad and hoses from eliseparts, went for the proalloy rad.
