stockhome Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 From what they said this only applies to bog standard elises so you should be ok Chris
Alex B Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 I'm sure my documents don't have any age limits on track cover will check tonight
scatty Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Ha ha, cheeky fecker. I am old, I'm forty glorious years of age. I went thru compare, then phoned them direct. Did you tell them you can grow a moustache,?? Might swing it. :-) Good news about moris. I think they do a weekend policy as well. They have always been friendly and helpfull. I'd ring cci and ask um about your club biscuit elise for piece of mind??? I'm sure it will be just fine..,.
Chris_edeson Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Scatty, i was simply pointing out the facts ;-)
kayj_prod Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 I got a letter from CCI last week saying they were moving underwriters and needed to do credit searches, also requiring me to confirm the Elise isn't my main car. It seems weird they're not insuring standard cars. Is this because non-standard Elises might be less cared about?! (And how 'standard' is standard?) Ah well, guess it'll be the final push to do some engine work on mine if I get a shock at renewal next month.
StokieAfro Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 CCI offered me track days and I'm 38 also putting the missus on brought the premium down 50notes and she’s younger still. I guess that has changed with 1st Jan 2013 intro of equal premiums for both men & women.
Jonathan E Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Just renewed with CCI, £208 Christ I'm getting old! I tried it on, as I usually do, to try and get it cheaper but no deal. They did say that Aviva have moved the goalposts this year regarding commuting and track days but only for new customers? Only very basic mods on my S1 but they seem to understand Lotus's
rocketian Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I was with CCI but they increased their premium by about 75%, last year so I moved on. Got a decent deal from "Quote me Happy", about £330 for my 111R. You don't find out how good an insurance comnpany is till you make a claim. I was hit from behind by a van while stationary on Nov 6th - it still isn't sorted out. I need a new clam. First they told me the other party was not insured - not true, but to be fair, he had only paid the premium 2 hours before he hit me ! Then they told me he would not accept their calls and ignored their letters - I called him, and he told me they had not been in touch, then gave me all the info needed, which I passed on to QMH. Nothing happens with QMH unless you call them and chase - finally an engineer came out to see the car on 18 Dec - he took one look and said "New Clam - and by the way I have an original Europa" so we chatted Lotus for a while and he went on his way promising to authorise repair immediately - Nothing happened for a couple of weeks through Christmas and when I called QMH yet again this week they told me repair at Paul Mattey, was authorised on Dec 19 - Paul Mattey's didn't know anything about it though... So it goes on. When my policy comes up for renewal in the summer I think it is unlikely that QMH will get the business. I though they were "low Cost" but it turns out they are just cheap !
kayj_prod Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Maybe it's just insurers. I wasn't massively impressed by CCI when my Elise got hit when parked. Lots of to-ing and fro-ing with Aviva, one story from one and another from the other. To be honest, I think the body shop I used get most of the credit for pushing for decisions.
Chris_edeson Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 i have an email contact at CCI... this is the definitive answer on track cover under 40. my policy runs out in may fyi. I just emailed them for a quote on the exige iv been looking at and his reply included this: "If you want to keep the track day cover, I need you to change vehicles before the renewal date. Due to claims on Elise’s’ for drivers under the age of 40 Aviva don’t want to insure them anymore. Basically anyone under the age of 40 with an Elise we cant insure with track days. Exiges etc are fine however. Also VX220’S. Just not the Elise." so more reason for me to get an exige!! hahaha!
scatty Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 How random. Hello white exige then mr edeson....
scatty Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 I'm guessing they will only change it at renewal.
Chris_edeson Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 yep that is correct, if you have it now your lucky, if you renew and under 40 and own an elise standard or not, you will not get trackcover.
G Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Looks like exige drivers are safer than elise drivers under 40 :-p Aviva started moving the posts with commuting policies last year if you remember CCI isn't the only broker tho, worth trying REIS etc...my renewal has come through and it has gone up a bit but I will be haggling or moving on. Give these guys a call, they also do unlimited trackdays and that will prob sway me across. http://www.manninguk.com/automotive/
