Hi all. I need to replace the front shocks (and may as well do rears), but only seem to be able to find £1500 worth of racing shock sets. I'm not a race driver and its a weekend car, I was hoping there would be somewhere to get original ones from or even used ones in good condition. Does anybody know of anywhere? Thanks.

They will be Red Konis then. A lot of people swop for the S2 Yellow Bilsteins. These give a slightly harsher ride but not much. The Koni,s are no longer made BTW.

If you change to Bilsteins, the fronts are a straight swop. The rears need a different top damper bracket. You should be able to pick up second hand Bilsteins at a reasonable milage for about £250. Try SELOC for ads etc. Someone on here may have some in there garage, shed :)

You could also look at Gaz Golds as they get good reviews for a good price. Speak to Mike at MGW Racing in the advertisers. Eliseparts also sell shocks if you can fit yourself

I have a full set of newish S1 standard shocks. Been in my loft a few years. Guess they would still be ok. Happy to have a look if you want them?

Bilsteins work great - make sure you set to ride height that you want and then get Geo done

Are you talking about s2 bilsteins here, are they height adjustable?

Standard S2 Billies are not height adjustable. I believe there are some height adjustable versions available, not sure what cars if any they were fitted to.

I think the Bilstein S2 are height adjustable slightly. I think you have to move a circlip on them? I doubt its much adjustment though?

When you get S2 Bilsteins for S1 you need to make sure you get correct kit with dampers + springs + new rear top mounts. Dampers have circlips which can be put in several positions to change ride height; I went for 125 front/135 rear from 160/160 [2000 Wreg car] which is as low as you should go if you live in a speed bump area + if you lower any more steering rack needs packers. Also because of revised ride height at a minimum front tracking needs doing but full Geo is recommended. When I did mine I got tracking spot on but when had Geo done it was out of alignment front to rear. Recommend TVA in Wolverhampton or Gugliemi in Daventry.

Transformation over original Konis!!! Good luck
