Replacing Rear Window

Hi all,

Anybody replaced or had someone replace a rear window on a Lotus Elise S2. Mine shattered last Sunday while driving along the A5 in Leicestershire. Any thoughts or recommendations would be most welcome. It is covered on the insurance but Autoglass say they cant/wont do it. Have been told to find a local Lotus specialist, but thought I would put it out to you guys first.

Hi Paul

Unfortunately, I've had to replace the rear screen in an S2 Elise and it requires the removal of the rear clam.

Not sure I would want the likes of Autoglass to be removing large portions of the Elise bodywork...

Yep pretty big job on an s2.

Best bet is to get it done at a main dealer, the one close to you is pretty good.

Thanks all for info. DeanB - Can you give me a bit more information about 'Gav in Unit4 Burton', I'm sure he is famous in that area, but I live in Leicester and unfortunately haven't heard of him!

Anybody recommend a dealer/fitter for polycarbonate rear window fairly close to Leicester?

Thanks again guys

Robbo , gav used to work for Peter smith, the lotus dealer. He then set up on his own and is at unit4 in burton. Trust me, his work is first class. Used by many of us on here.

I'd give him a ring and talk it through.

I've just taken my rear window out, nothing a Stanley blade, sand paper and hard graft can't shift.... I have a Poly carb one here you can have....... Well I do like Oyster Bay Savy Blanc lol but you are welcome to come pick it up, I'm in Sutton Coldfield or Lichfield time/date depending and on the way to Burton. I also have a glass one, either/or.
