Window Tinting, Nlc

I have recently swapped my daily car to a Mini Countryman (please be gentle). The car is all over light white and I quite fancy having the rear windows & screen tinted.

I have been quoted around £160 to have it done (5 windows in total), does anyone have any experience of window tinting, does this sound like a fair price?

Thanks smile.png

P.S. No I am not having them tinted because I am ashamed to be seen in it before you say it lol.

Sounds a reasonable price. I paid £250 to have seven windows on my Saab tinted (two front, four in the two rear doors, then the rear screen).

Beware of what tint colour you choose - the lighter the car, it makes a fairly gentle tint look dark. Mines on a black car and I get away with a dark tint without them looking too out of place, albeit they are "technically" still illegal...

hey laura

£160 sounds quite good, my freind quoted me £40 per window when i enquired for the exige,

consider that tinting front side windows as mentioned are technically illigal, even on the lightest tint

would you have all at same shade or darker back lighter front??

so you've gone elise, cooper s, cooper now coutryman, it must be an age thing :)

- does the new one feel much bigger to drive,as they seem quite a bit bigger to look at......

post a pic when you can, bet it looks cool next to the exige, are you having the wheels in black too?

my driveway looks like an explosion in a paint factory !!

Thanks for the replies so far, very helpful smile.png

I wouldnt be having the front ones touched - there are 3 windows per side so it would be the rear 2 for the passengers in the back and then the rear screen. Thanks for the advice with the tint colour, with the car being white I would have to think about that quite closely and I would go for quite a light tint anyway (1) so I stay on the right side of the law and (2) the pimp look doesnt quite suit me!

Rich the car actually drives really nicely and feels no larger than my Cooper. Only time it feels bigger is when I attempt to park it - bad times lol. Just has standard Mini wheels on it, although I have already swapped the side indicators for clear ones and have a 'sports ariel' fitted - not sure what is sporty about it!

Not driven the Exige since I've had the Countryman but with my 0-60 time in nearly 12 seconds when I do its going to feel like a rocket! Will have to post a photo up of the two of them together, little and large.

Really? I would...

Hope it's fun for you. Remember, there's the school of thought that you describe that says as dark as possible!

Price sounds about right Laura. Not that I'm saying you should, but you can go as dark as you like on the windows B pillar and back. The rear window on my Accord Tourer is virtually limo black- but then the car is already a dark grey, so it doesn't look as extreme as it would do on white!

But there is method to my apparent madness - the boot is massive, Mrs Scatty would love it, she could fit literally hundreds of shoes in there!

Plus my insurance is £100 cheaper than my Cooper, road tax is half the price and I'm saving the planet with my stop-start technology. I do argue with it when it trys to tell me I'm in the wrong gear though, its obviously not designed for 2nd/3rd gear loving Exige drivers lol.

Mrs scatty has agreed. Shoes in the boot, the darkest tints possible for the rears, which would make the handbags invisible!!!!!

It seems all bases are covered!!!!!

Genius, should have just consulted her in the first place!
