Hammered Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Had a little accident can anyone recomend any good one's Thanks Rich
fentuz Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 It seems the car has lots of damage. As mention in the other thread, it would need clam, crash box, radiator. But just on this picture, it seems the brake master cylinder got torn off. The front passenger wheel has moved quite a bit; are the wishbone deformed only or have they torn chassis mount off? If the chassis is damaged, it should be written off especially since it's not weldable. You might want to contact Steve
AL. Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 As above, take some photos of the wishbone mounts, especially the top mounts, and any sections of chassis that you can see at the front.
Martin R Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 I would be suprised if its not written off. They work on a percentage of the total value. If its more than this to repair it will be written off. You may get the chance to buy the scrap back if they do. Price dependant this may be worthwhile as a project. As above any suspension mounting damage, forget it.
Hammered Posted July 3, 2012 Author Posted July 3, 2012 http://www.master-cars.co.uk/index.htm I found this repairer on the internet quite local for me within 20 miles. they display a Lotus approved Logo on there website. Spoke to the manager today he assured me they had repaired 100's of lotus's but not done much lately as they didnt quite see eye to eye anymore with the dealer they were doing work for. the dealer only sends them warranty jobs now. He seemed very keen to repair it and will do a written case study and take photo's through out the process. also they run an open shop and customer's can call in and take a look when they want. He says he and his team know there where way around these cars, assured me by talking of some of the pitfalls, like it being necceray to build up the car then strip again it to paint. the prep work involved in the front clam that will be come from lotus, filing fibreglass to ensure head lights fit correctly and having to do a lot of work to ensure a good paint finish. The suspension settings being critical, zero tolerence and they had spent hours on cars to get this right to allow cars to drive straight on bumpy roads. And assures me the car will be better when I get it back than it was. So should I trust this guy or try JCT600 my nearest dealer in leeds where I left a telephone message today and they havn't even replied ???????????
Martin R Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Might be worth a post on NYLOC for local advice ? http://www.nyloc.org/ Edit, looks like Central in Barnsley get good press ? http://forum.nyloc.org/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=16447
jimbo07g41 Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Most customers would push their insurance company for a new clam. The insurance company concerned about the cost of clam and paint will write off. If you have most of the pieces you will be surprised on what a good job a body shop can do. The main worry will be suspension damage, if thats ok and it was a good car, go for it. I wouldnt use the dealer If I was using my own money.

I,ve had an isurance repair done there before and wasn't that impressed. I guess he'd have a bit more passion with a lotus but a friend just spent 5k with him renovating a Morgan, He's not impressed either !!!!!
Martin R Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 As i said you need local knowledge If you want one of if not the best around here by all accounts. http://www.option1sportscars.co.uk/
a7esk Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 As i said you need local knowledge If you want one of if not the best around here by all accounts. http://www.option1sportscars.co.uk/ Yes give frank a call there short the car out with a DVD on the work they carry out on the lotus . dobbo Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Personal experience, albeit from ~10 years ago, would be to avoid JCB100 like the plague. I'm not going into detail on a public forum and things could well have changed since then, but it took me to start a court action against them to get my problem sorted. EDIT - just looked at the photo - can't see it not being a write-off, I'm afraid. At least that would save you having to discuss your choice of repairer...

russelld Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 If you send Frank at Option1 lots of photos of all the damaged areas he can usually quote from these. He will also do all the hard work involved in negotiating with your insurers on your behalf. He is very thorough and very professional. Good luck BTW.
Elise+Imp Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 is it a write off then? http://classifieds.seloc.org/ads/s2-111s-111r-or-exige-wanted-cash-waiting/
daves2111s Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Option1 did a great job for me a few years ago. Had to wait a while for Lotus parts but perfect finish which actually was better than the original!
