I found this repairer on the internet quite local for me within 20 miles. they display a Lotus approved Logo on there website.
Spoke to the manager today he assured me they had repaired 100's of lotus's but not done much lately as they didnt quite see eye to eye anymore with the dealer they were doing work for. the dealer only sends them warranty jobs now.
He seemed very keen to repair it and will do a written case study and take photo's through out the process. also they run an open shop and customer's can call in and take a look when they want.
He says he and his team know there where way around these cars, assured me by talking of some of the pitfalls, like it being necceray to build up the car then strip again it to paint. the prep work involved in the front clam that will be come from lotus, filing fibreglass to ensure head lights fit correctly and having to do a lot of work to ensure a good paint finish.
The suspension settings being critical, zero tolerence and they had spent hours on cars to get this right to allow cars to drive straight on bumpy roads.
And assures me the car will be better when I get it back than it was.
So should I trust this guy or try JCT600 my nearest dealer in leeds where I left a telephone message today and they havn't even replied ???????????

Central garage is in my village across the road. I,ve had an isurance repair done there before and wasn't that impressed. I guess he'd have a bit more passion with a lotus but a friend just spent 5k with him renovating a Morgan, He's not impressed either !!!!!

EDIT - just looked at the photo - can't see it not being a write-off, I'm afraid. At least that would save you having to discuss your choice of repairer...

He will also do all the hard work involved in negotiating with your insurers on your behalf. He is very thorough and very professional.
Good luck BTW.
