She's Alive!

Gents,

After our Derbyshire run earlier this year, I decided that enough was enough with the high idle my Exige and I'd get the troublesome induction sorted out. After two incidents of jammed wide open throttle on track days and the 1900rpm idle (I suspected the IACV), I've replaced the Token (sorry, Titan) throttle bodies with Jenvey T/Bs and a Autotechnix airbox, and 90mm inlet trumpets.

After lots of porting and fiddling around with various parts, today was the day I attempted a start. Almost 2 months of sitting idle, the key was turned and I was treated (after a bit of tweaking) to a 1000rpm smooth and steady idle!!

Words cannot describe the elation and despite having a few more bits to finish off (exhaust tail pipe, air filter bracket, rolling road session) I am pretty much on track for my target of getting to Chatsworth on July 8th.

I just needed to share how pleased I am. A full fitting guide will follow in the near future for other S1 Exige owners thinking of making a similar modification.

Cheers,

Kurt

I think so Martin, I can't drive it yet as its currently sorned, and due to the tailpipe being removed I can't run the engine for long without risking scorching the bodywork. I hope to get it road legal then book it in at Emerald in Norfolk. It'll get that far without tweaking, and so far doesn't exhibit signs of misbehaving, so I may be lucky to have got away with a car that'll do a two hour journey to Emerald. The tailpipe is removed as it's too short for the Exige and sits flush with the rear bodywork. I am having a circular single exit 3" slash cut stinger style tailpipe made by NRP Exhausts near Newark. They've gone very quiet of late though, and need the pipe ASAP! I'll get that then have the ECU upgraded to a 3 position switchable type with settings for "power, economy and tunnel"! The latter will cause an orange glow in the tail pipe....
