I've been told the front clam needs to come off to address the air con correctly. Well I want it working and so it's set to be removed in a couple of weeks.
I'm aware that people address the radiator when the clam is off. Mine is an '06, so would you agree that I should get it done at the same time?
Looking on EP earlier. Can you advise me which one I need (they do a 3 pass as well as an upgraded alu type).

Do I need a fan mounting kit?
Does my 111r have one or two fans?
Will I need a new fan even?
Sorry I'm all questions!
Oh, anything else I should address whilst it's off?
Thank you.

I replaced my rad as it started to leak, it will go sooner or later.
I think all Elise's have one fan, I put my fan back on again and it's fine but it's up to you. I was told the triple pass was for racing only so went for the all Ali 45mm rad

Also, check the towing eye bracket - mine was rusted through and wouldn't have pulled a thing!

Thanks. According to my 2 links there's only £6.00 difference. Might as well go for the more expensive one then?
Thanks for excellent link and guide Jon. Time is my enemy presently with a busy work schedule, so over to Matty's. I'd quite like to do it tbh for the satisfaction alone. They need it off in situ for the air con though, so it kinda defeats the object if I do it at home.

Have they checked the gas level first? You then need to check the pressure switch, which is accessiable without clam off. You can also check the aircon relay.
Upgrade the resistor pack and replace the actuators if the clam comes off. Believe me you might be back to square one if you dont in a years time.

Heater's fine. Just the air con. It's been regassed twice just recently and it's losing it somewhere very quickly (Less than 12 hrs anyway). The best I can tell you is that an air con specialist that visits P. Matty's has had a look and said it's clam off. I can only trust them and go with it. I've added your points re resistor pack and actuators to my list to discuss.
Many thanks all so far. Much appreciated.

I was lucky that essex motorsport were there with a spare second hand radiator (somebody is watching over me) and we spent 5 hours taking the car apart and fitting the rad. The aircon is a pain and you can split pipes, we were lucky and didnt disturb anything. Still managed to get 3 hours on track stinking of coolant lol.
I asked about upgrading the hoses however I don't think they make any improvement at all and I'm sure you can change hoses at a later date without taking the clam off.
I opted for a proalloy rad, and took the car to essex to have them fit it, quite an expensive part to replace due to labour taking the clam off, but worth every penny.

Ok, so two things I'd like to know for sure are:
1) Can radiator hoses be changed at a later date if needed without removing the clam?
2) Can the fans be replaced at a later date if needed without removing the clam?
Oh and 3) Does the 111r have 1 or 2 fans please?
This will allow me to sort my shopping cart with EP. re mounting kits and so on
Thanks again.

the Proally rad has mountings for your old fan, which should be fine, - I think the EP rad is the Proalloy
