Alfa 4C Vs Lotus Elise?

Well, not sure if anyone has seen the new Alfa 4C yet, but firstly their is a striking resemblance to the Elise/Exige shape and body, not only shape, but theology behind this concept expected production car, such as a light weigh small 1.8litre mid engine, however it is going to be turbo charged kicking out approx 235bhp, and instead of a Fibre glass frame, Alfa are planning on going all out with a Carbon Fibre frame making it over 10% lighter than the elise. I'm not sure if it would be carbon as a production car, but certainly I think this car has been heavily influenced by the elise, it does on the other hand look pretty stunning, and the behind looks very nice. Performance expected to be 0-60 in under 5secs, 235bhp, price approx £38,000, performance will probably match the elise once all the heavy italian designed luxurious styled components go into the car, which I will expect will make it heavier if only slightly. But its pretty eye catching, but will it handle as good, I dont think so

Lovely looking car, and on my "I'm interested" list !

If it's lighter than the Elise and more powerful, I think it'll be a winner, but I can't see how it can be done for £38k.

And you can't take the roof off.

It looks like a love child of an Evora and Elise S1. I absolutely love it. I hope the production run looks the same.

Stunning to look at.

When you see cars like this and the small VW/Porsche Roadster that's mooted, it's easy to see why low-volume Lotus feel obliged to move up market. Remember that the M100 Elan was supposed to be a small affordable sports car in a niche of its own, then Mazda released the MX5 and pulled the rug from under it within months of release.

A love child which has then been adopted by the owner of an Italian jewellery shop owner.

Yeh I do find the £38k carbon body tag to be unbelievable, I speculate it wont carbon for that price tag, or add another 10k onto that atleast. Ive read a few reviews, and some valid points, theres no where to on that car at the moment to fix a standard size UK reg plate without it looking ugly.

I am about 60% sure this is actually the elise chassis. I remember a while ago, there was many rumours that Fiat had licensed the chassis from Lotus, but it was believed to be for the new Fiat Coupé, which I think is now the Abarth Scorpion, but I think fiat have actually used the license to be used on the Alfa 4C, because it looks uncannily like , and Im sure its influenced by it.

I do also see how and why lotus may be getting out of this market to look at a new niche, as it was mention on here your have the likes of BMW, Toyota, Mazda, Nissan, all competing on the affordable coupes and sporty soft tops. Lotus do have the racing DNA in their blood

My 2.5 year old alfa has been into the dealers 21 times. I'd stick to your reliable lotus if I were you!

latest one this week is a warning that the airbags arn't working !!

Well went to Alfa to inquire about when there may be details about the 4C. Firstly, what a bunch of arrogang c***s (that could mean a couple of things you decide lol)...but anyway, they said price tag is likely to be £50k + and that is does not use the elise chasis, so on this basis, Im not thinking the car is going to be very good, even though it looks beautiful
