M42 Roadworks/cameras

Does anyone know what they are planning on installing on the M42 where they are doing the roadworks in the overhead gantries? I presume some kind of camera. Does anyone know anymore details?

Same cameras as on the M25 (variable speed limits), I believe.

 

This is where they're trialling opening the hard shoulder at peak times.

Was on the stretch from cov for about 10 miles south the other day and they had gentries every 500m with speed camera lines painted onto the roads. The speed cameras wernt up but you could see where they were going to be fitted. Lookjs like it is very imminant

I can only assume it is soon to become the slowest motorway with the most number of braking accidents in the country.

Yep as Fiona said M25 speed cameras and use of the hard shoulder at peak times, thats why they have been creating those pull in areas for when you break down. Along with the highways agency vans that now attend instead of the police a lot of the time.

So how are they going to measure the improvements in traffic flow?

 

Presumably they will benchmark it against the flow now (with all the roadworks) so that it artificially looks better. Bet there will be no difference if it was measured against the flow before the roadworks started.

They have asked me to be the benchmark in the morning, I have to see if I'm any later than usual for work in the morning
