Lotus in the Peak

Hethel Today!

After a shortish queue to get in (30 mins I reckon) Miles and I arrived to see the awesome* MLOC display in the owners clubs area. MLOC outshone the rest of the clubs by a huge proportion, it was amazing. I really take my hat off to those that organised it, it really was impressive.

The factory tour was fantastic too, pity I was unable to fit a spoiler and some side pods under my t-shirt. All in all a really nice day out and nice to see some familiar faces, sorry we missed a fair chunk of the MLOC lot as I believe your traffic jam was a little worse than ours.

Jo, if you wonder who the ginger idiot was hanging out of the dark blue golf on the way home, that was Miles! Also, a word of warning to those of you who ever consider giving Miles a passenger ride anywhere ..... DON'T! He is Mr. Embarrassing by hanging out of the window and waving at absolutely anyone or anything! Including a poor chap in a Mini who just didn't know what to do! I wanted to climb under the seat at that point.

I'm not going to bother posting up my pics as they'll only look rubbish in comparison to Scott's' and the rest of yours.

*Awesome - Word of the day

Had a brilliant time day, amazing to see so many cars together - most of which stuck in traffic trying to get in ;)

MLOC stand looked really good, well done to you all for organising it ;)

Really tired now though and have had to have an emergency chinese to recover!

Well, what a FANTASTIC day we had...We've just this minute got back home, and we're still talking about it. Thanks to the peeps who 'kinda' waited for me in the convoy down there...My lil MG kept up pretty well I think eh.

I've got a million and one pictures, so when I get the chance I'll put them up.

Thanks once again

Maxine & Parents

;)

Oh, and I forgot to mention all the guys going for a wee...I was VERY JEALOUS, I really needed to go ;) lol

Twas a great day, queued up for a while but nature callled so Followed 4-5 lost Loti then found another 4-5 lost loti till found route in from other side. Sorry to MLOC Orange Exige following me but I had no idea where i was going so had to jump lights to hang on trail of others!!! I feel another 3 points are well due!!! Sorry to Black with green/orange stripes to, I had no idea what direction factory was so pulled into layby to let other pass and he followed!!!

Great day, fantastic club stall, great MLOC airfield picture, wish we'd planned more to meet b4. Some great guys and girlz but in the 10,000 that were there never saw anyone again :-(

VHPD was back firing like mad on way, seriously over fueling was causing few issues at running constantly at 65mph!!!! Just adds to engines character ;)

Good to see production lines and new car, great race home up A14 once past A11 traffic lights! Cheers orange Europa for clearing way, BMW M6 issed me off, so soz for blasting off!!! Gave Carrara 4 some grief, think he got a bit pissed a 1.8 Nitrous assisted car could give him a serious pasting Well upto 85!!!! ;):D

Brown Trouser moment........

coming back from Hethel, roof off doing 70 mph down the straight on the Shrewsbury by-pass (15 mile from home) the off side rear toe link let go, making the car snap side ways from one carrige way to another, got her straight (like a pro) and limped home.

boxers are in the wash ;)

Eventually got onto the site at about 2.30, having left home at 9.30... I wonder if Lotus weren't quite prepared for the numbers (the size of the lines at the food places and the 'organisation' of the merchandising tent suggested that too). The factory tour was very interesting, nice to see a couple of examples of the Evora casually on display, and I'm always ready to look at Elises. Enviously watched the cars lap for a bit.

The MLOC stand looked excellent, seriously good, and the cars were a good choice. Congrats to everyone who put it together.

Just got back ;) Left at 6:30, started queuing at 10:30, parked up at 1:30!! Apart from that it was a great day - that went very quickly! MLOC stand looked awesome, ny far the best there (and I'm not saying that because i'm biased) as did the sight of 50 MLOC'ers in tow :D

Sorry to hear your injury Steve, hope you get it fixed easily.

Thanks for a great day :D No doubt back next year for some other anniversary!

Mish - great to have you along with us on the way back, hope you realised you were going North on the M% as opposed to the Southerly direction your house was in... :D (Buy a TomTom lol!)

Speak soon mate ;)

Must be the weight it carries! Lol!

Glad you are ok though, that must of really scared you...! ;)

While you are checking the toes links, stick some new hub bolts in too, the ones that go through the camber shims and hold the balljoint widget to the upright...they are known to stretch then snap. If your toe link as failed it implies that its 'had some hammer'!

Stu

PS. Brilliant day, well done to all those involved in organising everything.

Fantastic week end so glad I went on Saturday after talking to people who had queued for hours to get in. I got a B & B 4 miles from the factory for £25. I did the factory tour 3 years ago but this was much better. It was interesting to see the design department and also the leather trimming and embroidery dept, none of which were on the tour last time. The MLOC stand was by far the best of the club stands. It was a pain getting food (just joined the smallest queue in the end)

I agree it looked like Lotus weren't quite prepared for the numbers.
