just fitted short shift kit on elise s2 found it to be a complete nightmare to put handbrake and gear shift housing back on. did it in the end by bending it. Going to take it off again next week due to fact it is getting trimmed at lotus. Worried that when I come to put it on again will have the same problem and may damage the material. Is there and easy way to but the above back on ie undo handbrake cable. would be greatfull for any help

As anticipated, my s2 111s had a fair amount of understeer at North Wield (although it could be provoked ) Is there any cheap way of dialling out a bit of this and getting towards the more neutral balance of the s1? - like say new geo set up Or is it a new wheels and tyres job??? Thanks Matt

Has anybody got any feedback on the S2 Exige induction kit from Pipercross. Does it really give you a claimed 19 horsepower for £350.00 fitted.

I managed to get my hands on a 48mm tb to replace the plastic one. I was told it's a geniune MG one (2nd hand) It has Dellorto engraved on it. Anyhow, I noticed that when turning the bit where the cable holds onto, that the butterfly would only open about 30 degrees before the plastic bit hit the stop (The stop was the metal bracket, which I've removed in the picture. But both metal brackets are virtually identical) . So I took out my plastic one, and that one opens to 90 degrees (Horizontal) before hitting the stop. It appears the bit where the throttle cable attaches is totally different. In every other aspect the tb's look identical. The original has a …

Just dropped the car in with Mike to do some further investigate on my clonking noise, but it appears to be a knackered damper on the front passenger side. Mr Mac informs me the LSS dampers are about £200 each from Lotus so Mike reckons I'd be better off getting alternatives. Had a quick chat about it - Nitrons were mentioned, as was S2 LLS and standard S2 stuff. Bearing in mind I'm trying to sell the car I don't want to fork out lots of cash, but I wondered what the best way is to proceed? Wendy's going to get some prices for me anyway, just wondered what you lot reckoned. Ta!

Having trouble with my passenger window too. It appears that the bottom section of Guide rail nearest the front of the car is loose. This is then allowing the window to slide forward and back by about 1 inch when the window is not fully wound up. I have the S2 Service Manual but can't work out why the rail is moving. Is it possible that the front adjuster screw has become fully wound out and therefore is not holding the threaded block fixed to the rail, and therefore allowing the rail to move? It's a bit of a bugger to see anything in there, let alone get my fingers in.

I noticed today that some of the S1's had mudflaps for the rear wheels. Was this STD on the 135 and the 111s? Anyhow I think they'd help stop stone chips up the rear of the clam. Does anyone know where to get some from, EliseParts don't do them (Or I can't find them) Or am I just wasting my time? Not sure how they fit, but it means I might have to drill the clam to screw them in? Dan PS - Just about to order a gasket kit for my CRP from Eliseparts and that gear linkage kit looks appealing.

Hello Has anyone removed the original S1 exhaust and cat themselves? I'm just embarking on this-so far I've removed the undertray, seen lots of rusty nuts, said 'oh dear' and sprayed with copious amounts of WD40. The nuts on the 'engine' end of the cat are all moving but the ones on t'other end look like they might be more of a challenge. My question is - can the silencer and cat be removed together (i.e. without unbolting the cat from the silencer)? This would make life easier because I could attack the rusty nuts on the bench rather than under the car. Any other pearls of wisdom on exhaust removal (other than stop pi55ing about and get someone else …
