Well, took my car in to the local dealership today, decided not to bother with the brakes and just try running them in a bit to stop squeal. However, the rattle that was apparent at 4000rpm is coming from the cams according to the mechanic? Anyone had similar experience or able to tell me how much damage to expect? I only bought the car a week ago and have hardly used it! It was serviced 3 weeks ago by christopher neil for goodness sakes! Plus alarm bells were ringing when the 'foreman' thought it was the VVC engine!!!! he also says it has hydraulic tappets? I read somewhere that exige engines do not run hydraulic tappets? Anyone think im being roped for a fool here?

Hi All, Hope you can help, got my first Elise (2000W S1) a couple of months ago after much help from you lot !! THANKS Only taken it out a dozen of times but it seems that the coolant header tank always sits well below minimum when hot and about an inch below minimum when cold. I have tired topping it up but it goes back down the this level. Engine temp is fine, sits happily at 87-89 when moving. Can creap up in traffic and if it sits for a while will go to 100 then the fan will kick it back down to 88ish. I have checked for leaks and all looks ok Now, i dont know too much about engines, but i would expect that as the coolant gets hotter, it would expa…

Ok guys got a few questions. I have my MOT on Saturday morning and need to know the following. If the management light is on (Faulty O2 sensor)is this a fail, has anyone got a part No so i can get it cheap? My window screen washer pump is shot, is this a fail? again part No required??? I have a bike No plate and a full size plate, will the full size plate be req for MOT? Many thanks guys Glennman

I here that everyone thats had thier car geo'd here has had slighty differant settings which make the handling better than using the lotus recommended ones, of hand does anyone know the settings that has been used for there s1 at all as i have the recommended settings already.

The car was with Nick Whales today for a service and fitting of a stage 1 exhaust (thanks Moomin !!! ) There is now a Lotus "fix" for the rattle on S2 Exiges. I'm not sure quite what it comprises of exactly, but Ian explained it to me as a set of small grommets that stop the roof from making contact with the body, allowing for both a tighter fit (stopping the rattle) and the annoying squeak of roof on body !! I drove home the 50 or so miles tonight, with not even a hint of rattle of squeak. Around town, there is still some rattle over potholes, but normal roads and man-hole covers again cause no rattles or squeaks !! Steven

Anyone know if it's possible to get a larger fuel tank fitted, I know the new cars take 40 ltrs? 43.5 for the 111R, as apposed to my 32lts in the 111S, but will the larger tank fit?

What experiences are people having with Toyo T1-R's ? Ive been impressed with T1-S's over the years so decided to fit some of the new T1-R's to my S1 Elise. Oh dear, so far been very unimpressed, its like driving on sheet ice, slip sliding all over the place. And thats at low speeds in the dry !! Ive fiddled with pressures but that doesnt seem to make any difference. I might put them up for sale. What do other people think ?

Hi All Newbie to this site. I have just accepted a new job which will include a company car, I'm reluctant to just flog my current tip top, because if it all goes belly up I shall just be left with a Westfield. Not very practical So, I'm in the market for a fun car costing around £7k. Discussion on the Westfield Club forum brough up the Elan SE (M100) as a possibility. So I'm after some general information on things to look our for, places to buy from, etc. All the usual things when looking for a car which is a little out of the ordinary really. TIA Martin

Argh! My brakes are sqealing like buggery! I have pagid RS14's, they are fine until the car is warm but then they squek everywhere, the car even squeaks a few more times when i pull away from a junction? I dont know how long they have been on the car but the brake pedal feels quite spongy. Do i need to replace them or are they just needing bedded in?? Also there is a rattle from the engine bay between 3-4000rpm that gets more noticeable the longer the car is driven. Ive checked oil and things as car was serviced 3 weeks ago but i think it may be something loose in the engine compartment? any ideas?

Bought a Momo team Steering wheel on Sun at Donny from Eliseparts I also bought the hub adaptor at the same time. I took the centre cap off the old wheel and couldnt work out how to fit it, do I need a boss kit as well like this?:

Thinking of getting a Hurricane induction kit at Donny this week end as I've read so much about them BUT... I've got a S1 with a de cat pipe which is really loud - will the Hurricane make much difference to the noise (already need to get it checked for track days)? Will it improve performance significantly? Other benefits / drawbacks???? Cheers Mark

Following on from my 'more front end grip for an S2' thread - would swapping my wheels over to the Oz's and fitting AO48's be a waste of money compared to some Toyo's and a new geo setup? Also if I did buy the new wheels and tyres, would these be ok on my standard s2 suspension? Thanks Matt
