Im planning to attempt to refit the decat pipe at the weekend and I have no idea what I need! Had the decat on but it had to be swopped with a cat when I was black flagged at Bedford (which still had the rusted bolts(studs?) in.) Im not happy with how quiet it is now, so I want to get my hands dirty. Also, Im done with paying someone to remove/refit at MOT. I want to not be so mechanically ignorant! Didnt see what Sinclaires guy did exactly, so Im not sure whether he removed the studs(or how or whether its possible to refit like that), but I got the nuts back with my pipe from my original decat setup. After a discussion with Graeme yesterday, I think the main differences were the engine, (variable valve timing in 111s, not in std) a close ratio gearbox, and some other bits and bobs which I cant remember I was initially put off the 111s by the additional insurance premium (£1000 vs £1750), however I gave my current insurer a mouthful, and they have come back with some new quotes of £750 and £850 for the std and 111s respectively (why couldnt they give me those prices first time around ) which isnt so bad a step-up. So my first question is, are there any other major differences I have forgotten? is the extra money/insurance worth the performance increase, or…

Hi Guys.. Just began to fit my shiny new Hurricane but have hit a small snag! I have just removed the OEM air box and found another black box above the wheel arch I was not expecting! Firstly....what the hell is it? Secondly....does it need to come out for me to fit the inlet pipe? Thirdly...if it does need to come out, how the hell do you do it? The horn started playing up in the elise (S1) at the weekend - the relay (?) still clicks when the button is pressed but the horn doesn't always work and when it does it sounds like a wet fart. Had a look for the horn to try and check connections etc but couldn't find it - now i'm either really stupid or its well hidden. Any ideas guys? Whilst poking around under the front i also found this loose wire - see piccy. Its on the drivers side under the tyre weld and is long enough to reach down towards the front lights. The wire appears to be only a single core (an earth?) has corroded until it snapped. All the lights still seem to work so i'm guessing it coul…

Got to take the rear wheels off at the week end to replace the clutch on the Lizzie. Whilst they're off I'm going to give the inside of the rims a good clean up, any suggestions of what best to use? Cheers Mark

I recently knocked off my mirror while putting my sports bag in the car My first thought as nothing had broke was to glue it back on with superglue. i popped in a windscreen place to ask there advice and they burst out laughing when i mentioned this Apparently there is a bit of a heat reaction with certain glues and it will crack the screen! So hey children be careful out there if the same thing happens to you.

Hi all just wondering if anyone can help.. When i went to the lotus show last month I spoke to a few people about air filters and one or two recommended buying a K&N and extending the pipe so it would suck in cold air much like the hurricane.. Whats your thoughts on this? Im not looking to spend loads but would like to get rid of the standard airfilter box! Is there much diff between the gains/noise between the hurricane and K&N? To be honest im just after a few more revs but mostly a nicer sound.. thanks!

My Window Mechanism and support bar are bent beyond recognition, and the felt runner at the front is long gone. . I've ordered the parts myself (as the dealer wanted £408 quid to do the job) and I'm going to have a go at the weekend. I've had the window and whole mechanism in and out a few times, but my main concern is the front vertical felt runner. The Lotus bloke said that this is the hard bit, he said you had to grind the old felt/rubber out ? What the hell is he on about - and how do you stick the new one in place . . Strees - you mention on an earlier thread that you did the job yourself, I wondered how you or anyone else have tackled the felt runner . . ?? …

Went out for a drink last night and on the way the indicators just stopped working for some reason. The light doesn't come on the dash, there's no noise and the actual indicators don't want to work, theres nothing! Bet people were cursing me on the way home! It's annoying because it winds me up when people don't indicate, but I can't when I want to! Any idea's?!

Can anyone help - My fuel guage seems a bit funked. It shoots up and down between "refill", and 16 litres when fuel is low-ish.. It only seems Ok when it's over half full. It shot back to refill after only 60 miles from a tenner so I have filled it completely (32 litres including what splashed on my shoe). Is this bad ? ( along with the doors not staying open, knackered window mechanism, torn window felt front runner which i can't get out, and badly rotten footwells ) ? Still love the car though, if i'd wanted bored care free motoring I'd have kept the MG-TF
