Might be worth considering the BF Goodrich G-Force Profiler as got some good reviews (even better than Toyos according to some). http://forums.seloc.org/viewthread.php?tid=44735 Shame there's very little choice for S2s without a wheel change

What is that bit of internal trim that sits on the chassis and acts as an arm rest, that I scrape my foot over every time I get in called? Mine is worn and I need to replace it. Thanks

Fellow Lotus Fans - Well, it looks like the S2 will make it here sometime around the end of 2005 or beginning of 2006. I already have a deposit on one, but I am having a heck of a time selecting a color. This color selection is becoming extremely difficult because I will be getting a car that I have never laid eyes on, except in all of your wonderful photos. I keep going back and forth between Ardent Red, Saffron Yellow, and Chrome Orange. I think the S2 look great in the silver colors, but these days in the U.S. everyone has these colors. I'm looking for a fun color for the Lotus. I had decided on Red for several weeks, and then I saw a Chrome Orange Eli…

The grills on my boot lid (the two larger ones) have come loose from the black mastic stuff. Can i just take them out and remove mastic then re-apply normal household mastic or is it special stuff they use for this. Sorry if this is a stupid question but better safe than sorry.

When I bought my Elise S1 Nick Whale told me that the NS steering rack was a little loose. Horizon had replaced the OS gaiter last year (under wrty) and I am taking it in next week for them to check it out. My question is really how much should a new steering rack cost (Horizon have quoted £250+) and has anyone experience of this - how much did you pay? I am hoping a gaiter replacment NS will sort it. They also quoted me £80 for a Geo - Is that a good price???? Seems a bit much to me. Is it worth it and waht exactly do they do (apart from hang infra red sensors off the wheels and plug in a computer....) Thanks everyone.

Following on from my earlier thread I went to Nick Whale this morning and one of their technicians had a look at the car for me and proved that the driver side rear toe link was seized completely hence the creaking when hot. I hadn't noticed this since I hadn't really inspected the passenger side to compare the two. The passenger side link moves freely while the driver's side won't budge. They have quoted approximately £200 to replace both ball joints on the driver side link. Does this sound right? I'm getting my dad to take the car in for me on Thursday to have the work done since Saturday is the May run which I'd like to be at if possible. What are your t…

Okay - I got my lovely S1 last Tuesday and have been tooteling around the country roads each night. Then on Sat morning I went out in what I would describe as drying conditions - no standing water, just a bit wet. I get to a left hand corner (slightly off camber) and the front end washed out (under steer) which I corrected (over corrected slightly admitedly) and before I know it I am pointing in the opposite direction and then sliding sideways into the hedge. Thankfully, only damage is a cracked front number plate and a slight scratch on the rear left wheel arch. Still drives fine (I think) but is very light on corners in the wet (dangerously so in my view). I h…

Okay, following on from my last thread I have now diagnosed that the inboard ball joint on the rear driver side toe link is to blame for the annoying squeeking noises that happen when the joint gets warm. I can easily feel the toe link clicking when the car is bounced up and down. I haven’t any idea what the cyclic clicking sound is that comes from the same wheel especially when cornering (no it’s not a stone in the tyre). I know the discs need replacing, but I’m not sure whether this is related. So, based on this what is my best course of action. I’ve had the wheel off and had a look at the gubbins but I don’t think I’m up to taking it all to bits myself un…
