Right, after faffing with the steering wheel since buying a momo team at Donington in March!! Finally found a spacer that puts the wheel far enough away from the indicators etc. Only thing now is that I'm not sure if it's to close? Is it still the rule that you should be able to hold the steering wheel with a straight arm at the top of the wheel, while sitting back in the seat? Or is it just what feels comfortable? Seems easier to steer now anyway!

Boot Liner

Has anybody had any problems with stuff getting to hot in the boot after removing the boot liner? Was having a little Pre-Le man packing game and realised there's a fair amount of space taken up by the foam underlay!. However the foam underlay has a silver shield and as this is right above the exhaust, the last thing i need is my tent welded to the floor of the boot!! anybody!?

I have met a number of elise owners wanting my MMC S1 discs. They are prepared to pay silly money for em and mentioned how amazing they are compared with the later heavier items. Also one told me they are meant to last the life of the car provided I stay with the correct pad type for the discs. Be all this true?

Got these discs, they've been sat in my garage for over a year now and i've just realised they might be mmc's. They haven't gone rusty, they have a white powder stuff (like when aluminium corrodes)that seems to have 'grown' on them. Not much of it, just speckles. Each one has the letter 'A' then a three digit number on them near the holes that the studs go through.

I'm going to have to replace my rear discs as they are extremely knackered (might do my fronts at the same time, as they don't look too much better...) I was looking on Elise Parts and they have a pair of 'S1 Turbo Grooved' discs going for £124.96 + VAT. Does anyone know if these are any good? If not, whats recommended (and what pads should I put with them...)?

On my S1, the boot sensor isn't closing properly and hence the alarm won't set. It's an early S1 with the boot bag and the plastic boot lid above it. The plastic cover doesn't seem to be closing the sensor, but I can't see whats wrong or how to adjust it. Any tips?

I,m back to having problems with my cooling system, i have changed the thermostat to 82 oC item, but i don,t have the front bleed nipple next to radiator as i had to modify this pipe before when i had leak. I tried to bleed to cooling system via the 2 bleed nipples in the engine bay but i seam to still have a air lock which makes temp go from like 76oC - 122oc, seams more revs i put on in higher gears means the temp over heats in no time, any one got any ideas how to sort it out??

Hi all ive had my car now for 3 months now with no problems till now.. its a 98 standard S1 with only a sports exhaust and I recently put a decat on (one week ago) Went to a mates house the other day and left it out side.. well it pis*ed down and it really did here in shrewsbury! anyway went to a petrol station put in BP super unleaded and it drove like a bag of nails... it was spluttering and misfireing like mad.. at idle, well it wouldn't idle basically it would jump from 750 to 1000 rpm instead of sitting at 900 when in drive it was like its only firing on 3 pistons.. but every so often it would pick up like normal... but then would go back to backfire…

I know it's been asked before, but I got some bath and shower sealer tape from B&Q like the folks on SELOC suggested and it's not the right kind of stuff. Does anybody have any good suggestions for a cheap yet effective option? I need to take my covers off and clean them inside due to water splodges and dead bugs. They're not sealed properly at the top anyway which is where the water gets in. I don't want to take them off though until I've got a good way of putting them back on. Cheers Graham
