Hi, I am new the forum and I am keeping my fingers crossed that somebody can help me out. My dad and I are in the process of restoring a 1979 Lotus Eclat S1. Living up to the Lots Of Trouble Usally Serious tag bits are going wrong. Currently we are after an Exhaust manifold and a drivers side electric wing mirror. If anybody has these in good condition for sale please let me know. Also if anybody has had experience of balancing the twin 45 Dellortos please get in touch. One day we might get her running right and then I will look like this . Thanks James

Hi there, I have an Elise S1 and the screen wash / wiper function has packed in. I have had a look at a document I have downloaded off the net and it appears to point to the replacment of a relay. I approached my local garage for advice and they just said they don't sell any parts for the Lotus and I would have to go elsewhere (very helpfull). Can anybody advise me on what I need to change to get it working, and where I can get the part from. PS. The wipers do work on there own, but not the screen wash function. Hope this make sense!!!

Lots of the driving I do is motorway miles, I tend to travel at over 4000rpm for about an hour then come to an abrupt halt for 20 mins, this happens twice on each leg to work and then back with the route I travel. As a result the car stays at a steady 87c, then shoots upwards at each halt. I've not had anything too scary happen yet, but have got to 'flashing temp guage' stage on more than one occasion. This thermal shock needs to be reduced for fear of a terminal event! I'm fitting a remote 82 degree stat but was wondering what other options I have for reducing the sharp climbs in temperature; 1 Radiator relief (or other water wetter). Chuck it in with every coo…

Hi all. Just wondered what you folks with leather interiors use to clean the seats and sill covers with (if at all). My car has cream leather and it has a number of marks on it which I'd like to try and remove if possible. Is there anything that brings leather up particularly well? Also, there's black tape on the cloth parts of the seats and sills which was obviously put there to protect the material itself from wear. This tape has worn through now though and needs replacing. I'm thinking about buying some black self-adhesive vinyl and cutting it neatly to shape with with the sills and seat trim so that it doesn't look too heath robinson. Has anybody else tri…

Ive had the car a couple of days. The atmosphere has not been really dry, hence no squeeknig. But today i just took her for a blat after work, and it squeeks over rough ground - accelerating, or braking hard. Sounds like suspension. Where exactly would it be squeeking, and should i attack the whole suspension with some WD40??? Could be the springs, links??? PS. it had all shock changed in last service. Oh and when i was under there painting my calipers, the susp looked like it needed a good brushing, and lubing. Is WD40 the best thing to use, if not what is? Where exactly should i be directing the lubing??? Thanks

Hi, I've ordered new smoked front indicator lenses from Eliseparts, so need to remove each front wheel and arch liner to swap em over (correct me if I'm wrong). Anyway, I'm doing this at weekend and need to get hold of replacement rawl nuts (again, I think) - as I can guarantee they will be rusted on - everything else seems to be !!! Where can I get the ones I need, and what sizes ? Preferably somewhere I can just go and pick them up - don't think I'll have time for the internet to magic some through my front door.. i.e. B and Q ? etc ? Thanks in advance. P.S. Got to log off now till the morning, pls don't think I am being rude by asking a qu…

Hi Everyone! I have a 52 plate 111S Elise. I have noticed that if it rains heavily the soft top leaks at the front top corners of the side windows and when the roof is totally saturated the roof leaks at the rear on the passenger side. With regards to the passenger side leak, the waters seems to enter the car from the corner of the inner plastic cover on the side rail of the roof. Am I being a little unrealistic to assume a Lotus soft top should be totally water tight?? Cheers Jim

I know this is a bit of a dumb one but I am about to change the pads all round and am not sure about the discs, not having the car from new its hard to tell how worn they are. Apart from the minute wear (<1mm at a guess) at the extremes of the discs they look pretty good, no visible scoring. The car has just passed 19500 and I assume they are the originals still on there. Cheers in advance. I'll be at Ashbey Folville tonight if anyone is going who might be able to give me a clue!!

Hi there. Had my car now for approx 3 months and i only noticed the other day that the water level was below the Min level. I topped it up a few days ago and after a 200mile run it was showing again to be below the Min level. Yet again I topped it up and the level dropped after another relativly short run. Does anybody else have this problem and should I be worried, or is it due to the fact the water bottle may not be at the correct hight?? Appeciate in advance for any feedback. Andy
