I think Christurbo used Toughseal Paint Protection recently but I would like some feedback from anyone else who has used this stuff for personal & business reasons. Heard its great on standard cars but not got anything on Elises. Anyone?

Hi, Could anyone tell me if they have tried running the Advan Neova LTS tyre on track in the wrong direction? The reason for asking is this.... Most tracks are clockwise. The left rear particularly takes a beating and the left front is not far behind. We are getting through an awful lot of left rears in particular. We end up replacing the left rear and running the right rear with whatever tread it has on it at the time. I was wondering if it would be possible to balance up the wear on a dry track. I know you are only supposed to run them in one direction, but is this just the case in the wet? Sorry for my ignorance, thanks for any replies, Tom

Drove the Elise all day on Sat during the rainy weather and not even a flappy rear end then Roundabout coming off A52 to Burton is always a bit dodgy but in the wet it is an ice rink. Anyway due to buying "Bending the Rules" DVD and using the wheel turning techniques in there since I watched it, when the rear flipped out (unbelievably quickly) I managed to carry on with a mere if not scary on & off the kerb moment. This has resulted in the front & rear near side wheels being scuffed on the rim for about 4". I will get the wheels done properly but has anyone got any short term repair tips till then? Thought about a small hammer to flatten the scuff as …

I'm having a bit of a power issue with the Elan in 3rd gear. First and second are great, screams up the rev counter, third, it gets to about 5.5k, and pauses for a while before picking up again, there is a slight flutter in accelleration before this point too. Not tried 4th of 5th as i only noticed it this morning on the way into work, and traffic dosn't let me go that fast. Any thoughts? air filter is a new green cotton one, so can't really be contaminated just yet. sorry i should add it is a turbo elan, not the NA model. cheers

After de-scaling my kettle & clothes steamer last week and 2 irons this week it has occured to me that the same water is going in the Elise. Had the car 6 mnths and not had to do the coolant but I did do the washer bottle when I got it & am planning on doing it again when I do my winter prep on the car. My question is can this scaley water damage or block the systems?

Anyone got this in their S1? Just wondered if going for this kit will be worthwhile. Does anyone know how this effects insurance or will it just be cheaper to buy a S160 sport. Contemplating many different options. Choices so far are: PTP 170 my S1. Exige S1 - im a little concerned they are little more fragile than my current car. S2 111S. So, PTP is £3K but will this add value to my car or am I just wasting money? G

Hello, My '97 Elise has only gone and died on me. It cut out while sitting in the road outside my house while I popped back in to shut some windows. Since then I've only got it to turn over and start once and then it died again quickly. When I turn the key the stack lights up but the starter does nothing. I've tried bump starting with no luck - it judders along but just won't fire. I've checked the fuses in the front (both normal and maxi), checked the connection to the starter, checked the earth strap and checked the fuse behind the boot lining but nothing makes a difference. I've disconnected and then reconnected any cables I can find in the engine bay but …

As there are one or two more S2 Exige owners on here, I thought I'd see if we had experienced any of the same problems with the cars as I have. My problems have been; 1. Crap DAB reception (touring pack fitted) Fixed by the dealer fitting a new signal booster under the front clam 2. Leaking roof when car parked in the rain Missing seal on roof -replaced and fixed. 3. Squeaks/creaks/rattles for roof Mostly from the rear of the roof and where the screws are under the access panels inside the car just above and behind driver & passenger heads - held on by velcro Problem still not fixed although been back to the dealer twice No real technical prob…

Where do you keep your locking wheel nut in the Lotus Elise S1. As I have bought a S1 Lotus Elise and the previous owner did not know where the locking wheel nut was when he bought it from Nick Whale. My car is going in for a service tommorrow with Chrsitopher Neil and I cannot find the locking wheel anywhere. Is there a set place where this is stored on a S1 Elise. I know a very dumb question.

Hi guys I've got a 97 S1 and I've noticed that the inlet manifold is different to the standard one (attachment). Can't show you mine as I dropped my digi camera in a jug of beer on Sat! It's alloy, although a very sim shape to the one which is seems to be standard (mgf one). Any ideas?! Cheers
