I'm getting my driveway tarted up at the moment (eventually, when the rain stops...) and one of the things I'm going for is an automatic gate that lazy little me can open without getting out of the car. I've spotted this laser based opener called the Target Lasertrack. It has the added bonus of diffusing police lidar guns... From what I've heard, if you are using this thing to open your gates, then its legal to have one despite this. Now I'm still a bit wary of this - has anyone had any experience of this? If so, are they any good? Rob

Following on from Ladders and Graemes unfortunate accdents some dumb fooker has smashed into the side of my Elise this morning. Pulled out of a side road to join a queue waiting at the traffic lights and the last member of the queue decided to reverse back down the road and straight into me. Hit me so hard I was pushed 6ft back down the road (and smacked my head on the roof bar ). Obvious damage to the clam and sill. The wheel is a mile out of true too. Will wait to see what the repairers say re the unseen damage. Anyone used www.helphire.co.uk before? Liv Victoria will only give me a courtesy car (Corsa) if I use their approved repair centre - Andrews in Reddit…

I am searching for the name of a small garage/cartrader that sold Lotus cars on Broad Street,Birmingham in the Seventies. I know it was a very small garage and sold mainly used sports cars (Lotus/TVR) so not many people probably will recall it. Who remembers this garage or can help me to find it (old newspaper, motor mag.)? Thanks. Eric

A quickie- I got a ticket in early June while parking in MK for being a few minutes late. I was pretty furious that I had to pay £30 to the thieving b@stard vultures and planned to appeal on some grounds, but sadly forgot. Anyhow, just got a letter from the private company yesterday (Vinci Park) that controls parking stuff and they are now wanting £60, with a note that if I dont pay within 14 days, they will begin civil proceedings. I have also lost the ticket I received on the day. Having never got a ticket before, Im not sure what happens. Basicaly, is it worth trying to appeal or will I get screwed further. Should I just stump up the 60notes and be done with it. …

Thought I’d post this to the group just incase anyone felt inclined to ring the BBC…….I suppose its worth saving but as per most things on the TV they will more than likely leave the TV company with a pocket full of cash……….cost of restoration £30000………250,000 people (about 20% of the audience) ringing in at £0.25p per call = £62500.00p…….that’ll fund the next one too…..anyway…if you feel inclined read on……… Restoration In Spring 2004 Top Gear asked you to send in the names of famous cars you would like to see restored. For the next five weeks, they will take a look at a different car and you get to tell us which one to restore to its former glory. First off, they …

Enjoyed last years, think we have a few more active members now, so reckon we could get a better event out of the place we went to last time - more heats, semi's etc... or even try somewhere else? "We" are prepared to organise and research, so can you let me know if it appeals... probably towards the end of November, on a Sunday. So post your answer and let me know date possibilities etc and we shall look into it further
