...for younger Elise owners? Some of you will know that I've just taken Graeme's (G13CCK) S1 Elise off his hands and I'm shopping round for good insurance quotes. Being 26 and driving a powerful car already I'm used to paying fairly high insurance, my Cupra R is £660 even with 6 years no claims through Adrian Flux. So far my best quote for the Elise (remembering that I can't use the no claims for it) is £830 from Adrian Flux. This isn't actually too bad and I'm happy enough to pay it, but wondered if there are any other members around my age with an Elise who have found companies who can give better premiums? Thanks for you help Graham

if you are able to visit the Autosport show this week then go along to the Z cars stand in the constructors pavilion They are launching a new conversion for the Elise it features a Suzuki Hyabusa engine and gearbox fitted with a turbo and capable of 400 bhp. mated to the bespoke Z cars transfer reverse gear box it is capable of speeds in excess of 160 mph and weighs less than your ordinary Elise into the bargain!!!! also at the show the 1000bhp Ultima sports with two hyabusa turbo engines and four wheel drive will be displayed on the Car and track magazine stand, this is worth a look as it weighs 980 kilos and has a power to weight ratio of 1080 bhp per tonne not for …

For those of you who made it to the NEC this weekend, you may have come across SPA dash unit. Its very similar size to the standard stack unit ( marginally smaller, I think), however, one of the key feature is the illuminated tachometer needle that changes colour as the revs build up to programmable shift points. Has anyone seriously looked into this as an upgrade? Is it worth the 700 quid odd? www.spa-uk.co.uk/design/dashsystem.htm

I'm sure there are quite a few people with this annoyance, is the Anti Squeal brake silencer kit available from Elise parts any good? Or are there better home brew remedies?

I am looking at the different option packs for the Exige (for no reason in particular!), and appear to have option packs available, can anyone explain what you get with the touring pack, and the performance pack. I can kind of guess what the bias is, but wanted to know the specific spec, i seem to recall the performance pack having twin oil coolers, but beyond that memory is not serving well. I also have the following options list. I understand most of it bar the first one which pertains to having silver wheels i think, but that sounds normal to me ? DUHL (F)16 ®17 14SPK ICE SLV ALLY DUHG (F)16 ®17 16SPK BLK ALLOY AATF AIR CONDITIONING CEGD ALCANTA…

So I'm driving back up to Nottingham from Taunton on Sunday, with the heater on slightly and I notice a smell of burning rubber. It disappears when I turn the fan off. I stop in the Services and can't see anything and so continue on my way. Back on the M5 and a lorry driver 1/2 a mile ahead decides to overtake someone, cocks it up and drives partly onto the central reservation, kicking up what I can only describe as a homing brick. No matter what way I go it aims for me... it finally makes contact (hell of a thud) and I have 15 miles of wondering what damage its done until I get to the next services. Turns out it could have been worse, but it has still narked me o…
